Grand Marshal

   Grand Marshal Don Ambers

Don Ambers has been a vital part of youth sports in the Basin for over 30 years. He has been president of the Little League, member of the Klamath Falls Park Advisory Board, member of the Planning Commission, and volunteer with Babe Ruth.

Currently, Don is Assistant State Commissioner for Babe Ruth and President of the Kiger Stadium Association. Under his continued leadership at Kiger Stadium, the stadium is an active and vibrant host to regional youth and young adult baseball in Klamath Falls. Largely due to his efforts and coordination, Kiger Stadium continues to grow and bring new opportunities to the Klamath Basin. This success has led to the active restoration of Kiger, which is one of the last standing all-wooden baseball stadiums in the world!

Don is a 1958 graduate of Klamath Union High School and worked in construction until his “retirement” in 2007. He and his wife Janet have been married for 52 years and are proud parents of 4 children who have 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild!!

With all Don’s involvement with family and youth baseball, somehow Don still finds spare time to volunteer and participate with the “Kruise of Klamath” as the proud owner of a 1966 bright red Chevy Impala 2-door hard top. Don has also been an active participant on the Snowflake Festival Committee for several years now.

When asked why he has been so involved with the Snowflake Festival, characteristically he responded “Snowflake’s real purpose is for the children so they and their parents can enjoy the Klamath Falls winter”. The Snowflake Festival Committee thanks Don and his family for being a motivator in our community and helping make the Klamath, Tulelake, and Butte Valley Basins such a special place for our youth and families!!
