Senior Snow Removal Program

The City of Klamath Falls is offering low income senior citizen snow removal assistance this winter. On request, qualifying senior citizens who are residents of the City may request assistance in removal of snow from paved driveways and sidewalks at their homes.

Qualification Criteria:

Income Single: $18,800 annual gross
Income Couple: $21,450 annual gross

For the 2011-2012 winter, the City has budgeted $11,000 for this service. In the event these funds are expended in total, the program will immediately be discontinued.
The rest of the information stays the same.

Registration:

Seniors wishing to register may pick up a registration application form from City Finance at 500 Main Street or may download the form from the City web-site. Program registration may occur at any time throughout the winter.

Calls for Assistance:

During the coming winter, registered seniors may call City Code Enforcement at 541 883-5358 to request assistance. On a first come basis, Monday through Friday, the City will dispatch a private contractor to the residence to remove the snow and/or ice as soon as possible. The City will pay the contractor directly. The City will only respond to individual calls for assistance during the winter. Absent a call for assistance, the City will not automatically dispatch crews.

Limitations:

For the 2010-2011 winter, the City has budgeted $9,100 for this service. In the event these funds are expended in total, the program will immediately be discontinued.

The City will retain the right to decline or discontinue providing snow removal assistance in instances of excessive or unreasonable requests.

The service is not available to multi-unit residences.
